Changeover slide switch – NK Series

The new NK 236 switch is the smallest changeover switch for PC board mounting. End stackable to a pitch of 2.54 mm (.100), its PCB footprint is half that of a standard DIP switch.

Straight or horizontal right angle versions are available. When space is scarce, the right angle version allows actuation on the edge of the board without removal of the PCB. The notch marking and two colour contrast allows easy identification of the switch polarity and contact position.

The detent mechanism is designed to prevent any accidental actuation.

The NK series switches efficiently replaces U-Links, shunts or interconnects and can also be used as common slide switches.

Usual applications of the APEM NK switches are measuring instruments, alarm systems, telecom hardware, PLC’s…

Switches protected against electrostatic discharges - New S series

APEM’s new "S series" miniature toggles, rocker and pushbutton switches have ratings that satisfy dry circuits as well as moderate power applications while ensuring efficient protection against electrostatic discharges.

Designed and produced in ISO 9001 certified plants and UL approved for 4A 125VAC or 2A 250VAC, these switches are available with a selection of actuator configurations, printed circuit mounting styles and with 1 or 2 poles. Numerous options are available, including : gold-plated contacts, tin-plated terminals, and crimped mounting bracket terminals for self fixturing during soldering.

For Electrostatic protection, actuators are made from high insulation materials. For additional protection of electronic circuits, terminals can be provided with insulating heatshrink sleeves and insulating spacing pads that fit between the switch body and the PCB.

A totally sealed case prevents solder flux ingress and allows high pressure cleaning.

In conformity with the IEC 801-2 standard, these switches are protected against electrostatic discharges (ESD) up to 12KV between actuator and terminals.

Same general specifications as the previous APEM S series.

Rotary code switches – CR65 series

Our new rotary code switches, CR series, allow BCD or hexadecimal coding (real and complement) and feature a compact housing designed for automatic placement on PC boards.

Rotary code switches allow the direct setting of digital electronics. They require less board space than traditional DIP switches. They are commonly used for setting such equipment as PCB’s, micro-computers, SCSI peripherals, remote controllers, CCTV cameras, PLC’s and time relays at the final assembly stage.

Setting is effected by means of a screwdriver slot, segment wheel or accessory (spindle, plastic knob, knurled wheel) depending on the application. Actuators can rotate in both directions and without mechanical stop to facilitate code selection.

Production is done under ISO 9001 quality assurance. All switches are solder, flux sealed and washable.

Specifications :

  • Operating voltage : 24 VDC max.
  • Contact load, static : 400 mA max.
  • Contact load, dynamic : 150 mA max.
  • Initial contact resistance : 80 m½ max.
  • Insulation resistance : 100 M½ min.
  • Torque : 0,7 Ncm min.
  • Expected life : 10.000 cycles
  • Operating temperature : -20¡C to +70¡C

Pushbutton switches for harsh environments – IP series

The new APEM IP series pushbutton switches are rugged, compact in size and stylish. Their round or square actuator is efficiently protected against mechanical shocks, and the tactile feedback allows very precise actuation.

Actuators are available with a black, white, blue, green, yellow, red or orange finished matte colour. The die-cast one piece zamac bezel is supplied in black gloss colour.

Illuminated versions are available with a choice of 3 LED colours.

The internal sealing is assured by an elastomeric membrane. Models with flying lead terminals are totally dust and water proof.

The electrical life is guaranteed for 500 000 cycles under extreme conditions.

The IP series is particularly intended for the following markets : instrumentation, medical equipment, electrical appliances, transports, army equipment or agriculture.

Main technical specifications :

  • Protection level : IP 67
  • Available with solder lug or flying lead terminals
  • Panel mounting in a 13,6 mm diameter hole
  • Max. current/voltage rating.: 500 mA 48VAC - 200mA 50VDC - 200mA 250VAC
  • Mechanical life : 1 000 000 cycles
  • Operating temperature : -40¡C to + 125¡C

Illuminated security pushbutton switches – AV series

Illuminated switches are the latest addition to the APEM range of security pushbutton switches, the AV series.

They are available with red, green, yellow or two colour (red / green) LEDs. Actuators and bushings are offered in a large variety of finishes and markings.

Standard applications are : access control, automatic time switches, lifts, vending machines, games…

Specifications :

  • Rugged metal switches
  • Highly visible red, green or yellow illumination
  • 2 colour illumination by reversing led polarity
  • Snap action
  • Sealed to IP 65

Finish options : stainless steel, varnished brass, nickel plating or chrome plating

Industrial controls – A01 and A02 series

This new range consists of pushbutton switches (illuminated or not), rotary lever switches, keylock switches, emergency stop switches and indicators. It is designed for industrial applications including machine-tools, control panels, fire alarm systems, safety equipment, etc.

The range comprises two series : the A01 series (16 mm diameter and max. current/voltage rating 6A 250VAC) and the A02 series (22 mm diameter and max. current/voltage rating 16A 250VAC / 12A 380VAC). The electrical life is greater than 50.000 cycles. The quick-break contact mechanism provides good tactile feedback. Three optional bezel configurations are offered : rectangular, square or round. The front face is environmentally sealed to IP 65 and can be illuminated.

The finish and the multiple configurations of coloured screens, lamps and front shapes give these products a highly cosmetic appearance. Available in 1 to 4 pole versions, the A01 - A02 series are UL, CSA, VDE and BEAB approved.
